THE GAME GIFT

A game for no occasion at all

No date, no card, nothing to celebrate. Send two photographs and we draw them as the hero of a game because it will make them laugh.

The picture the shop uses for a game with no occasion.

The story it tells

There is no occasion.

Nobody is turning anything,

Nobody is getting married.

Someone just thought of Sam.

Sam and Alex stand in for the names you give us.

This one has no occasion attached to it, so the story is only the game: ten levels, a world you pick, and them running through it drawn in the style and the clothes you chose. The title screen carries their name and nothing else. It is the version people order when the reason is simply that they thought of somebody.

Any of the seven worlds can tell it, and you pick the art style and the clothes yourself.

What waits at the finish

The ending works the same way. Your photographs come out in a gilded frame, one at a time, each with a line you wrote underneath, then your video, then the last word, and none of it has to be about an occasion. On the complete game the pictures move for a few seconds before they settle back into stills.

A prize photograph from a sample game, brought to life for a few seconds inside a gilded frame. The frame the prizes come out in.
An example from the winter birthday demo, and the frame this occasion uses. The people in our sample games are invented.

The prizes, and what is written under them

  1. The first one A day worth keeping, and the people in it.
  2. And this one Somewhere you were happy, caught before it passed.
  3. And this The one that always makes you laugh.
  4. One more Because why stop at three.
  5. And the last The picture you will keep longest.

And then the last word

For you, Sam

No birthday, no occasion,

Just someone thinking of you.

These are the words we start from. You write your own captions, your own closing message, and choose which photograph comes last.

Add a gift card

You can slip a gift card into the game as well. On the extras step you say what kind of card it is, where it is used, the amount if you want it shown, and the code from the card you bought, with a line of your own to go with it. It comes out after the photographs, in a sealed envelope the player opens, and the code is written on the card inside. Any card from any shop works, because you tell us which. The code itself is never put in the game: it stays on our website, and the game asks for it at the moment the envelope is opened, so a copy of the game gives nothing away. It adds nothing to the price.

The gift card stage of a sample game: a sealed envelope with a gold ribbon and wax seal, with a small tag naming the card and the amount.
ClosedThe envelope as it arrives, after the photographs, in our castle birthday sample game.
The same envelope opened: the card slid out, with the kind of card, the amount, a sample code and the buyer's note written on it.
OpenedThe card with its words on it. The code here is a sample; the sample games are made for invented people.

Three sample games to watch

Any world tells any occasion, so these are only three of the seven. All three are sample games made for invented people.
