THE GAME GIFT

A Nowruz game about the last hours of the year

The old year is running out and the table is already set. Send two photographs and we draw them making it home before the turn.

The picture the shop draws Nowruz games around.

The story it tells

The old year is nearly over.

The table is laid at home,

The fish is in the bowl,

And Sam has minutes to get there.

Sam and Alex stand in for the names you give us.

The Nowruz game is the end of one year told as ten levels. The road runs out of daylight, the table is waiting, and every level takes a little more of the old year with it. Their name is on the title screen, the music is a Nowruz tune, and the finish opens on the room where everyone is sitting.

Any of the seven worlds can tell it, and you pick the art style and the clothes yourself.

What waits at the finish

Then the year that just ended comes back as pictures. Each photograph you sent is shown in a Nowruz frame with a line of your own words, in the order you chose, then your video, then the last thing you wanted to say. With the complete game they move a little before they settle, so the table and the faces around it are not quite still.

A prize photograph from a sample game, brought to life for a few seconds inside a gilded frame. The frame the prizes come out in for a Nowruz game.
An example from the winter birthday demo, and the frame this occasion uses. The people in our sample games are invented.

The prizes, and what is written under them

  1. The first one A day from the year that is ending.
  2. And this one The people round the table.
  3. And this Somewhere the year was kind to you.
  4. One more Because a year is longer than three pictures.
  5. And the last The first hour of the new one.

And then the last word

Happy Nowruz, Sam

A green year, a full table,

And everyone you love around it.

These are the words we start from. You write your own captions, your own closing message, and choose which photograph comes last.

Add a gift card

You can slip a gift card into the game as well. On the extras step you say what kind of card it is, where it is used, the amount if you want it shown, and the code from the card you bought, with a line of your own to go with it. It comes out after the photographs, in a sealed envelope the player opens, and the code is written on the card inside. Any card from any shop works, because you tell us which. The code itself is never put in the game: it stays on our website, and the game asks for it at the moment the envelope is opened, so a copy of the game gives nothing away. It adds nothing to the price.

The gift card stage of a sample game: a sealed envelope with a gold ribbon and wax seal, with a small tag naming the card and the amount.
ClosedThe envelope as it arrives, after the photographs, in our castle birthday sample game.
The same envelope opened: the card slid out, with the kind of card, the amount, a sample code and the buyer's note written on it.
OpenedThe card with its words on it. The code here is a sample; the sample games are made for invented people.
